Pegasus Books Partners With Open Road Integrated Media

Open Road to Digitally Distribute and Market Pegasus Ebooks

Initial Ebooks Include Titles by Andrew Kessler, Ira Levin, and Sara Blaedel

Pegasus Books, the independent publisher, and Open Road Integrated Media, a digital content company that publishes and markets ebooks, announced today that they have formed a partnership. Open Road will be the publisher’s digitization, distribution, and marketing partner in all territories where their ebooks are sold.

Open Road will utilize its online marketing platform to connect Pegasus’s ebooks and authors to readers. Open Road’s Digital Entertainment division will produce marketing videos about Pegasus’s authors, books, and the worlds and ideas that they explore. Videos being produced feature Sara Blaedel (Call Me Princess, on sale August 16), Andrew Kessler (Martian Summer, on sale April 12), and Ira Levin’s works (Sliver, A Kiss Before Dying, Rosemary’s Baby, Son of Rosemary, The Boys from Brazil, and This Perfect Day, on sale May 10). These videos along with other curated and originally produced marketing materials will be distributed through Open Road’s online platform as well as syndicated to online content partners.

The partnership announcement coincides with the launch of Pegasus Crime, a new imprint focused solely on publishing the highest quality crime fiction, mystery novels, police procedurals, espionage thrillers, and paranormal suspense.

“Pegasus is an exciting independent publisher with established strengths in literary fiction and nonfiction, and is an emerging force in the crime fiction genre,” said Brendan Cahill, VP and Publisher of Open Road. “We are thrilled to be partnering with them to bring their great books to readers in digital form supported by innovative marketing campaigns.”

“Pegasus is thrilled to be joining forces with Open Road,” said Claiborne Hancock, Publisher of Pegasus Books. “They have an exceptional, groundbreaking platform through which to market our ebooks, and we feel their vision is one that will pave the way toward great success in this growing medium in book publishing.”

Open Road will also digitize and market the ebook editions of the entire Pegasus catalogue, including titles by Ying-Ying Chang, Camilla Lackberg, Peter Straub, Rudyard Kipling, and Alexandre Dumas. See the Pegasus website for a full list of titles.

Open Road will oversee the ebook conversion of the Pegasus titles and is working directly with all of the major ebook retailers and platforms, including Amazon’s Kindle, Apple’s iBooks, Barnes and Noble’s Nook, Overdrive, and the Sony Reader.
