(New York, NY — October 27, 2017) Open Road Integrated Media (OR/M) announced today that Jon Fine, a legal and business strategist for digital media startups and traditional publishers, will join OR/M as Senior Vice President and Publisher effective Monday, October 30. Previously Fine spent nine years at Amazon as Media and Copyright Counsel, Vice President Business Development (Brilliance Audio), and Author & Publishing Relations Director. OR/M’s Editorial and Production teams will report to Fine.
“Jon is a multi-talented executive with a deep background in publishing and law, and an abiding love for and commitment to books, storytellers, and the larger author and publishing community,” Paul Slavin CEO of OR/M said.
A member of the NYS Bar, Jon has spent 25 years as a legal and business professional advising media organizations and storytellers, including over nine years at Amazon where he led the media and copyright law practice, headed up business development for Brilliance Audio (a subsidiary of Amazon), and for most of his tenure directed author and publishing relations worldwide. In that last capacity, he was responsible for wide ranging support of Amazon’s global activities across all aspects of traditional, digital and independent publishing. There, he created the company’s innovative author grants program, the largest private funder of literary nonprofits. Most recently, Jon has advised a diverse range of traditional and “startup” companies in the publishing space, including SoHo Press, Draft2Digital, and OptiQly. Among other roles, he previously directed legal affairs for Alfred A. Knopf at Random House, and was in-house counsel for Saturday Night Live and Dateline at NBC.
“Jon will be a terrific fillip to our growth,” Slavin said. “He knows the business both new and old and is excited to be able to be working on the cutting edge of publishing and marketing and commerce, helping ensure that our readers have the best selection of stories possible.”
